It's alright but if your already questioning it then my advice would be to see if there are any other options aftermarket or though Mopar for there?

Preferred Vendor Slickcar.com sells an aluminum billet grill for that lower area on sale for $40 dollars.
I just ordered so it'll be a couple weekends before I have pictures to show and tell.
Dodge Ram 1500 2009-2010 2011-2012 Polished Lower Bumper Aluminum Billet Grille by APS - D66883A
Fits Sports 09-12 and probably Express as well. They originally only listed 09 -10 but I emailed their customer service and they got right back to me about 2011-12.
Express and Sport are the same front bumper as far as I know.

That would be perfect if I had the sport grill inserts.. hmm something else to look for. The list for this truck just keeps growing!

My question is why would you want to open that up?
If you want a grill insert, I would get something that goes OVER the factory plastic piece.
Don't introduce turbulent air under your truck, that's silly.
