So every once in a blue moon I have noticed this happening. It is only on dim, which is how I prefer to drive at night. When I get home I will upload the video.
But has anyone had this happen? Panel lights dim in and out.

I've had this happen in the winter when the truck is cold and the illumination is turned way down. After it warms up it stops doing that. Never seen it do it in the summer so it has something to do with the cold.

My guess would be the brightness control is not making good contact at certain temperatures.

I was also thinking it may be so dim that the voltage isnt enough to provide constant power when cold.

Nothing short of cluster change is going to fix that issue. More than likely there is a cold solder condition on the LED circuit and with the cold temperatures, the contraction is enough to make spotty electrical contact.

Hi develand,
I have found a Technical Service Bulletin that may assist you with this concern:

NUMBER: 08-073-16
GROUP: Electrical
DATE: September 01, 2016
SUBJECT:
Flash: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Enhancement
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may describe one or more of the following:
•Instrument cluster backlighting may start flickering. This usually occurs when the
dimming is in the lower settings (high-line instrument panels only).
•The cruise control set speed does not match the digital speedometer (BUX vehicles
only).

You can provide this TSB number, 08-073-16 and your VIN number to your certified dealer, who will be able to best assess if this is a relevant bulletin to your vehicle and if any future steps are necessary. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Yeah me too. It's not a huge deal for me anyway because it literally has to be turned down all the way and it has to be really cold out. Good to know it's a known issue...
