How about we find a 3.21 and a 3.92 and line em up.

Drivers lose a lot of races, not just their cars,,,

Perhaps you can find someone as equally curious as yourself to test it out?

You know, 5-10 runs between otherwise 100% completely equal trucks on a bonafide track. Develop a baseline, complete with reaction times factored in, etc.

With that being said,,,, I dare YOU to accomplish YOUR quest!!!! YOU need to just get out there and DO IT!!!

Let us know what ya find out,,,,

The 3.92 would be faster to 60 as long as it didn't require an additional shift , but I suspect the difference is in the 1 or 2 tenths of a second

I've easily sold 100 sets of 3.92 gears to customers who's trucks came with 3.21's, and the difference is night and day when it comes to performance. I have yet to have a singe customer call me back saying that they were not thrilled with the power, response, and drivability of the 3.92 gear over the 3.21.

I went from 3.55's to 4.10's in my 2011 (this is an even smaller jump in gear than going from a 3.21 to a 3.92) and I felt the difference immediately. The truck now pulls stronger off the line, doesn't downshift every time I hit a small hill anymore, mileage around town is actually better than with the 3.55's, and the truck is faster in the 1/4 mile.

I feel you pain 14. Been there.... A bunch of parts from Matt made all the difference in my truck.

Yeah SloRol, I can't justify buying 2 more trucks.

I sure wish in that magazine article they would have used a Ram with 3.92s and no Ram Box.

Not really the same as the 8 speed comparison
but I have a 2011 R/T another guy on the department has a 2011 express RCSB, basically the same truck, both 5.7L same trans (I THink) but I have 4:10's to his 3:21's.... I walk on him like nothing else.. like running a Clapped out 96 mustang against a new Supersnake... no comparison.. were talking a 17's quarter mile vs 14's

I never understood why they do 0-60 tests on full size trucks

Maybe on a 2 door RWD truck would make sense.... hence we have R/Ts

I would do the swap in a heart beat. BUT I have 4WD. So from what I read. It's much more involved. :( if Matt sold EVERYTHING I needed to o didn't mess up buying ****. I would probably just do it.

My rig has the 3.21's and I test drove both before buying and while I agree the 3.92 truck had a bit more grunt off the line it certainly wasnt enough to make me hunt one down once I found one at the deal I was looking to get. Opinions vary I guess..

Absolutely. Some live for the speed,,, investing $$$$$$$ for fractions of a second, while others couldn't care less.

I have read all these and still don't see why everyone is on the fence about that there is so much difference ......there is not very much at all you're not going from 3.21 to 5.13 or something that you could really tell a huge difference .I had a TJ rubicon with the factory 4.10's and when i went to 37's i couldn't tell much difference from 33's and when i installed the 5.13's in it i could tell a little bit and 4 low but not much just going stop light to stop light and i have a really heavy foot so i guess i'll get ripped on but if your really telling me that there is so much difference in the two you're just flat out being picky and wrong but thats just where i stand on this subject .

I have the 3.21's, I do think it feels a bit slow from a stop but nail it from a roll and it feels plenty fast. I had the big gears in the last truck, wanted a little better MPG's for my longer commute that I have now and this truck has delivered with 22 MPG on the highway, never dreamed I could get that with a full size 4x4 V8 truck.

Yeah what's with the attitude in this one, I thought we were here to support doing things to our trucks not question why someone wants to do it. When I'm at the track near me people are racing all kinds of ****; snowmobiles, rocket cars, old harleys, tiny dragsters some spending hundreds of thousands to get the quickest time. My best time was 15 seconds on the quarter mile and that's launching it in 4wd auto... (60 feet - 2.32 seconds, 330 feet - 6.39 seconds, 1/8th - 9.79). Some other stock pick up's were racing, mine surprisingly was the best time out of all of them but not by much, I only had an intake in it at the time. Not sure what people are talking about how off the line the 3.21 lags, I can light up the tires through the first 3 gears in 2wd, it's once you get to the higher gears it lags i.e. passing someone on the highway.

I raced a Camaro ZL1 in my Ram at the track and beat him by more than a second in the 1/4 mile. Does that mean my bolt on N/A truck is faster than his supercharged Camaro?

The 3.92 gear is going to have a much more aggressive launch which will make it harder to get traction on street tires. Its not surprising at all to see a .3 difference in ET from 1 truck to another when you are both running on street tires and traction is inconsistent.

He did have a good launch, but my truck caught up to it
time slipes were consistent on all three runs
.3 was the closest one, i took him by .7 on his slowest run
