Is there a way to leave it hooked up without draining your battery

I leave mine on. Set it to go to sleep after 15 sec. Doesn't seem to be a problem.

Why don't you tie it into the fuse box on a fuse that is activated and deactivated with the key?

Mines in the truck for 2 weeks at a time and doesn't drain the batt.

I think I have it set to go into that standby type mode after 60 secs.

Because there is no power wire,
The power is provided through the OBDII port
(at least that's how it works on my 10'Ram)

The pre-12's never had a full power off / sleep mode issue,
I think it was a problem Diablo has been struggling with on the DCX model PCM's
