Hey guys just dropping in to register and get some advice from you guys on a possible purchase

2002 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Quad Cab with short bed. 152000 miles. 4x4. $3600

Color is yellow and has some damage to fender area and bumper. (Semi easy fix since I'm a body man...kinda lol) just curious at this mileage what I should be looking for before purchasing. May be looking at it tomorrow and would like to have an idea. Common issues etc. is rust a huge issue on these cars? (Beside being a NE car) look forward to any help. Thanks again.

Not sure what engine configuration as well.

152k on it might be a problem if the service on it hasnt been good on it, but if it has then it's fine. If you do get it I'd suggest replacing ALL fluids no matter what they say, excluding brake fluid, coolant, and washer fluid. that sounds like a good deal though. Just check for rust on frame and things like that, and if its salvage, don't buy it. My dad hates anything with a salvage title.

I believe (from reading online ) that the SLT comes with a v8 only. I believe it's the 4.7 though and not the larger one. But am not sure to be honest. Just worried to pick up a lemon but the price seems decent enough for a work truck.

id change the plugs and PCV valve. also look for leaks, smoking, knocking, ETC, ETC. bought mine with 155K miles and ive done brakes, rotors and the radiator just went on me. guy said it was replaced too before i bought it. other than that its been a good truck so far. there has been reports of the engine overheating due to sludge build up. be sure to do oil changes on the 3K mark.

Well it's either the 4.7 or 5.9 (gas 360). Either way the usual maintenance, fluid changes, tune up, etc apply. 4.7's suffer badly if overheated. If it has a plastic intake manifold, then it's a 4.7; if it has a metal intake manifold, it's a 360.

Check the suspension on the front too, dodges are known for having crappy front suspensions. And check the dashboard to see if it's cracked(another common dodge issue)
