Hey guys does anyone have any before and after pictures of a 2006-2008 stock 4x4 ram lowered with a 2/4 ish kit? I have 305/45/22 SRT's and the fender gap is just killing the look of the wheels.

Those pics are all of pre 06, the OP wanted 06-08 4x4 pics. 02-05 4x4 have a torsion bar front suspension while 06+ has coil overs, so the drop will be different.

This thread appears old but not sure if the OP got an answer or not... I just like seeing the guys trucks who had the balls enough to take a 4x4 and drop it, damn the ridicule!!!! And end up with the ultimate year round street truck!!

I love driving by the people stuck in 6" snow with my dropped truck not missing a beat!!

If this helps,
My trucks an 07 and I have a 4/6 drop.. Be p repared to spend some cash to make it right.. If you decide 4/6, I know your going with a 2/4 but i also run a 305 45 22 and for me the 2/4 still left too much gap..

Up front I used 2" McGaughys drop spindles and 2" ground force coils.

At 4" your CVs will be maxed and probly shudder even in 2 wheel drive.. If going 4" I highly recommend going to KORE engineering and ordering some of their high angle inner cv joints. They run about $850 but are woth it in the end.. At only 2" they arent needed.. I had no cv issues at only 2"

For the rear I Flipped my axle over the springs and used the factory shackle..
I did NOT use a kit.. I so far have not seen a kit I truely like.. Not saying they are bad, I'm just not aa fan. I bought factory Mopar perches and welded them myself.

imag0755.jpgeveretts phone pics 415.jpg

This 1st pic is at 2 3/4" (1/2 coil cut) and 5" axle flip with longer shackles the tires are 305 50 20s. which are 32" tall

IMAG1191.jpgIMAG1196.jpg

This 2nd pic is at 4/6 with the 305 45 22s which as you know are 32.8 tall

IMAG1185.jpg

This 3rd pic is showing the difference between the 305 50 20 and the 305 45 22.. Same brand and style. I know your not running 20s but this is to help you see the clearance differences on my truck between the tires heights..

I had an 04 Ram 4x4 w/a 2/4 drop kit on it as well. I never had any issues with it other than the rear bottoming out every once in a while. I used the air assist airbag setup to help that problem. I ran 275/55/20's on it as well.

i know for chevys there is a 2" drop spindle kit that relocates the hub location higher to give you more drop and keep your CVs from binding
i dont know if they make them for dodges but it would be worth lookin into

Awesome detailed info .. I was thinkin of welding my own perches too but was gonna cut of the stock ones on the axle. Flip kits are a waste of money if u can do it yourself. I wanna drop my 4x4 but still wondering if the drop spindles for the 2 wheel drive kit will work on my 4x4.

I did it on my 05 :********: You can use the McGaughy's 2wd kit and simple notch the front spindles to accept the bigger 4x4 lower control arms. Really simple and works great!

I did my own flip. Very easy if your able to weld. I used Mopar perches I bought from summit. You will have to grind them out though to fit the axle diameter, no biggie.. Also, be sure on the new perches to weld in the holes and redrill new ones 3/4" back from center.. This will put the axle back center in the wheel well, and keep the drive shaft from bottoming out in the tail shaft.. Also be sure to set your pinion angle before you weld. Easiest way is to use an angle finder and check the angle of your engine pullys. Set your pinion 1.5* to 2* down from that.

As far as the front spindles. 2wd and 4wd spindles are the same. The hubs bolt up the same and the axle goes through the hub and bolts up the same.. All bolt on.
My truck is an 07, I have found that 06-08 1/2 tons don't seem to need the spindle notched like the 02-05s
I dropped my truck years ago and have had no issues. Last october I went further to a 4/6. Thats a whole different game, to go that far..

@Shostopper, the truck you're talking about, is that white Gen 3 a 4x4? If it TRUELY is then that would be. Perfect 4/6 drop. I was wondering if you measured the truck before n after reason being is that in the Gen 3 4x4 like mine where the front coils sit in the cup on top is actually welded lower on the frame then the 2 wheel drive rams to be higher so with an actual 4/6 drop I would think it would be less then 4".

Hopefully I can get mine to sit like yours.
