Anyone with a HEMI, that's swaped gears from 3.92's to 4.56's...

What was your before/after mpg average?

How much better is the acceleration?

Anyone swaped from 3.92's to 4.10's? Same questions.

4.56's wont be if I lose 2-3 mpg! I'd rather go 4.10's if it'll increase my acceleration even a lil, without kamakazee'in my gas mileage. But I need some info/raw data to base this decision on.

to 4.56 will be worth it. 4.10's will not

Ditto,
Not much bang for the buck going 3:92 to 4:10. What I see is Dodge just got it wrong with their gearing stratgies. I haven't heard of anyone not happy with the change and the only complaints have been why didn't do it sooner to wishing they had gone to 4:56 instead of 4:10.

Yeah I know, Ive heard this prolly over a 100 times. I still want some raw data, or at least here from someone who's done this to a hemi. I don't want to base this kind of decision on opinions.

my opinion is based on raw data and others reviews. i will tell you i went from 3.55 to 4.56 and my city mileage got way better, and didnt lose anything on the highway (unless i went over 75 mph)

^^Ok I see.

I priced them out, there equal prices. Moes has the front/rear 4.10's/4.56's with master install kits/timkin bearings for $600. And Im going to install them myself. I have a lot of experience rigging cables/flight controls/and measuring/rigging the backlash on flap jackscrews on aircraft. I know you all might not understand what those are(but gears in a rearend cant be much different. And I can save myself another $600 by just buying/renting the required tools for $100-$150 and doing it myself. Plus Ill learn a ****-ton more!

Oh ok, I didn't know you have 4.56's. This is the kind of stuff Im looking for. So you lost a lil top end, but gained low end acceleration and fuel efficiency.

I did this kind of thing on my 2006 yamaha r6, so it would wheelie easier, and I gained a **** ton of more acceleration, and don't remember loosing much top end at all. Think I went ^1 and down 3 on the front and rear sprockets. Same basic idea with the truck/motorcycle.

you dont lose top end. if anything you gain top end because the truck is able to use more of the rpm band. if you do a top speed run (which i dont recommend lol) you'll find you cant get much above 4k rpms in top gear. 4.56 make it easier to use the full rpm band, which is awesome cause peak HP isnt until around 5k)

I went from 3.55's to 4.56's and it's by far my favorite mod. MPG's are about the same all around but it's twice as much fun to drive. Making the jump from 3.92 to 4.10 is not worth doing IMO, I think you would be sorry. The OD trans ratio of .67 make the 4.56.s completely tolerabe and in some instances your MPG's will increase by not using as much throttle getting up to speed. On the highway at 70MPH I'm at 2300 RPM with 32" tires. Thats not too high at all.

Like I said in my pm, 4.56's all the way. I went from 3.92's to 4.56's and have not regretted it yet. acceleration is far better and my overall mpg went up by about 2mpg.

Ok I see, so I might lose a couple mph of my max speed, which I don't care about anyway, but Ill gain hp/tq across the powerbad? Interesting...

Trup, read carefully, You will gain some top end also because with the better gearing the engine can turn turn up a higher rpm. The stock gearing doesn't allow the engine to top out in high gear. With a 4:56 /4:10 you can spin the engine up faster and to a higher rpm regaining the speed that couldn't be achieved with the stock gear. There is NO down side.
