Will be getting a camshaft here soon, so I want to know everything there is to know. Basically, what do they do exactly, what do the numbers mean in relation to what the camshaft outputs, and the lope? Also, what would be a good choice for torque and passing power?

Eddie Sam did your headers right? If so get with him on cam install. Lope doesnt always mean power on these things also sadly.

I know the lope doesn't always mean power. But I don't want some crazy lope. Not looking for that. . Want to be able to know what the cam shaft will do and avoid that.

What cam are you going with? That would be able to tell you more about what to expect and go from there

Comp 260 is popular in quad cabs, could do crazy spartan or a use krc210 just depends on tuning. Being an 08 you have the cylinders that cut out correct? You will also need valve springs, pushrods, cam bolt, crank bolt, new lifters for starters. The cam is going to have the valves opening and closing at diff times then stock also with diff power bands.

I turned off the MDS with my diablo. I plan on getting it full custom tuned when I get the camshaft installed. I know I need the 6.1 pushrods and springs.

there is a neat video on this page, you can watch a normal cam, then a performance cam.

HowStuffWorks "How Camshafts Work"

basically the numbers dictate how long the valves are open (duration).

The Crazy Spartan is supposed to be MDS Freindly. I have one on 114 LSA that I just pulled from my truck and am going to stick in my 05 Magnum and run it on a custom Tune CAI and Shorties. i know a fellow that has one in a SC on 112 LSA and is running good but he went the SC Route with a PSC1-003 and upped his Idle.

I heard of Comp Cams making a new Cam for MDS which I think is called the HP 260 but am not sure, if I didn't have the Crazy I would go after that one for sure for my Car. Do the Cam yourself or with another Mopar freak, its not that difficult (I have 3 under my Belt).

Its not that hard just tedious and does require a few tools not everyone will have. Danny were you talking about Greg's truck? Been speaking to him on and off bout how his is doing being an 03. Had me curious seeing were running both the same cam him just lighter and lowered.
