Just recently purchased an 05 1500 4x4 4.7 and I'm only getting 9-10 mpg the truck is all stock. The truck only has a little over 100k miles on it. Would a tune up(spark plugs, air filter and wires) increase it any at all?

A tune up would help a bit if it hasn't had anything done in a while. Try changing all your fluids too (oil, trans, diff). Take a look at your throttle body. There's probably a bunch of grime stuff all over it if it hasn't been cleaned in a while. If you want to start dropping money on mods that will increase power as well as provide mpg gains, look into a CAI, an exhaust set up, and a tuner. Just a few things to start you off with.

Get ya a set of fresh Champion or NGK V Power plugs in it and clean the throttle body. The 07 and older 4.7's don't have spark plug wires, as we use a coil on plug set up. Might wanna replace the pre cat O2 sensors too.

Since you mentioned 02 sensors i checked out rockauto and they are only 25 a piece for Bosch. Are the Bosch pretty good? Also for the 4.7 it states that they are all the same for upstream and downstream. Is this correct?

Looks like they are the same RedRam2007 part #23556 for all the sensors according to NTK's site

Well after I found out the truck still had the factory air filter and spark plugs I replaced them....but that still didn't help anything at all. It only increased by 0.1mpg. It's not throwing any check light for anything. Is this something that comes naturally with dodge trucks? This is my first one so I don't know what to expect.

We tend to get low mileage but your numbers are a little too low. You should be around 12-13 which from what I've seen is average for 3rd gen Hemi's and 4.7s. Again, check your throttle body and clean it up, I think there's a DIY somewhere on this site. Also you're probably running on winter blend fuel since gas stations are still pushing that out. In a few weeks summer blend fuel will be pumped out. I've experience up to 2 mpg gains without doing anything new around summer time. Im not crazy either, I document all my fillups on an app on my phone and have noticed lower mpgs in the winter months.

I had a cel for a cam sensor would that have anything to do with the bad fuel mileage and the evap mission system?

Well that's what I done also but before I done that I was getting 11.5ish now it's a constant 10.5. When I'm parked it drops....makes no sense to me...

Mileage this time of year always sucks for me. The gas is indeed winter blend which is worse mileage. The ethanol they put in gas hurts and only way I can avoid it here is 91 at some stations. A lot of my gas is burned up warming up the truck too. I don't know what climate it you live in but for me 20 minutes of idle on cold days is not uncommon. 4.7 never got me better mileage than 5.2., 5.9 or Hemi's I have had I get 13 in town with all of them. On highway I have got the best with current gen HEMI.

Skinny pedal is always been my weakness :)

This is quite funny as I am a new Ram 1500 4.7ltr owner (06 w/55K) and I was just wondering the same thing - CRAPPY MPGs. Part of the reason for buying the 4.7 was for the better Fuel Economy. PFFFFT!!!!!!! If I wouldve known better - I would've just gotten a HEMI.
