How hard was it for people to fix the broken bolts in the studs? Im planning on getting mine fixed once the weather warms up a bit and i wondered how bad others had it. Also what stud bolts did you install, i heard you should get the upgraded harder bolts instead of just the regular ones

You can buy the 6.1 exhaust bolts, or just run a grade 8 with a lock washer, might as well do a set of headers while your there.

I've also got broken bolts/exhaust leak at the manifold on my 04.

I see most guys say might aswell do headers when fixing it

I've got full catback exhaust, what headers would I get to fit exactly into the stock cats? Shorties, long etc? Would I need to add high flow cats ? I don't wanna mess with the positioning of the catback at all..

this just happenned to me last weekend...found a busted exhaust bolt in the head while removing the stock manifold...I took a drill and drilled a small hole in the stud, then used an easy-out to remove it, whole process took less than a couple minutes...

When i pulled mine off to install my headers i was lucky enough to not have any broken studs although they were all severely rusted. So the night before i pulled the inner fender liners and gave them about 4 coats of pb blaster, and they all came off with ease the next morning. I installed my headers along with Stage 8 locking header bolts.

how time consuming is the whole header install/ bolt replacement process? i had 2 broken on my 4.7 , 06 ram. thought about replacing the bolts on my 07 hemi BEFORE any break. seems like a common issue

Coated Pacesetters do the job well, if you want to spend some $$$ then look at all the stainless steel options. Check out Moe's perfoamnce and Matt has all the popular stuff. Longtubes and mids will require more exhaust work, shorties will bolt up to your factory mid y pipe asm.

Quick question, where can you buy these header/exhaust manifold bolts?

Be advised that I was told the problem cause of broken studs was the exhaust gasket design. Chrysler has revised the 5.7 exhaust gaskets six times (53032965-AF, 53032966-AF). The studs (6509544-AA), bolts (6507746-AA & 6509544-AA), and nuts (6505316-AA) are the originals and still used.

Best regards,
Dusty
