Just remember that the gains people are reporting are cumulative. You wont see the full potential of a less restrictive intake, unless you have a less restrictive exhaust, and vise versa. You wont see the full potential of the programmer with that as your only mod. All the parts work together to create these gains.
So while an intake might be responsible for 10hp and 1mpg increase on my truck, just bolting that on your truck wont create the same results because I also have a free flowing exhaust and programmer.
I guess what I am saying is that you cant add the performance and fuel economy gains that one person see's and expect the same result with your set-up. Tuning plays a large role in the results. A SC tuner will give different results than a Diablosport tuner will and a custom tune with give even better results...

Which is what I'm hoping to accomplish by making some cheap adds to go with it, with the E-fan, and running some pipe straight to TB from the air filter box bypassing Hemi Hat, and working on some kind of exhaust solution; muffler sell and self-install setting up for a future tip IFO the rear tire........hoping for a 2-4 mpg gain; even if a 2 mpg gain and I spend $300 total I should save around $127 over the next year/8,000 miles comparing current fuel prices. I'm not looking for a magic piece, but the little cheap things people do to have the greatest effect. For now, I think I can get the SC, fan, and intake improved for $250 or less so hoping for a little combo help.

With my mods (CAI, DS tuner, and 18" magnaflow) I have gained a solid 1mpg close to 1.5mpg. I have to wait until this summer to get my highway mpg gains because my baseline mpg was done with summer mix fuel ( I drive very little highway). My baseline around town could be a little low as well, but I am not expecting much more once it switches back to summer mix fuel. All my mods were done during last fall/winter.
For exhaust you could pick a nice free flowing muffler or your choice and then probably get a muffler shop to make an extension piece to go from the muffler to the tail pipe for cheap. Then you can take it home and clamp it yourself (although the effort vs cost weighs in favor of just having the shop weld the muffler in place imo).
Muffler ~ $90
labor to cut it in ~ $40-$60 vs then making a pipe for you + clamps $40 - $50
Tuner $166 ~ check
homebrew CAI using stock airbox with high flow filter ~ $80 - $100 or used CAI for similar price.......or Spectre for $150.

After installing the 91 octane tune, the mileage on the computer has shown a steady increase. I use Fuelly to check the accuracy of the computer and it's usually pretty accurate. The tune's not very noticeable on take-off, but the WOT tweaks in shift points gives it some serious kick. I did a lot of those, and tried to lower the MPG average, but with normal driving in between the average still showed a solid gain of 1 mpg. Need to confirm with multiple fuel-ups, but I can feel a difference in the performance.

Is there not a 93 octane tune for SC? I thought there was but have seen pics of the tune screen and the highest it was was 91. Correct me if I'm wrong..

91, 87, towing, stock are the modes on my updated 3815, with some custom rev limit, wot shift points, mds on/off, tire size on the tunes
