i was recently in an accident with severe damage in my 07 hemi quad cab with tow package. i got my truck back and was just going over everything and noticed that my oil cooler (i think?) was removed and not replaced by the body shop.

here is a picture of my truck now and the radiator/cooler that's missing was where the red circle is.

can anyone please confirm that the cooler in this location was an fact an oil cooler as i plan on meeting with them tomorrow for another issue. i believe the ones pictured are: rad, trans, steering, and AC.

thanks in advance!

Everything looks good there to me...nothing looks missing.

thanks for the quick reply.

i swear there was a cooler there as it had an active leak that felt oily and the engine oil was dropping at a very slow rate. they did put new oil in the truck and there was zero engine damage...

far right is for AC
lower left is power steering
above that is trans cooler
biggest is the rad

tow package comes with an engine oil cooler, correct?

These trucks were never built with an engine oil cooler from the factory.

Isn't the oil cooler inside the radiator? That is how they do it on cars.

Nope, only coolant, trans, and power steering. But oil coolers are easy to put in, you just need a special adapter to fit the hoses to.

thanks for the replies guys. i'm starting to think i'm crazy :anitoof:

i bought the truck used so the previous owner may have installed it. the oil stain is still outside in my driveway under that location and i remember from a couple months ago there was some oil just below the AC condenser. i believe it was the lower left on the cooler where it looked like the leak was.

the repair shop installed a different front piece that goes from side to side where the hood latch is.

where would the oil lines run from? i'd like to check these hose connections for fresh tool marks.

There's a little wire just hangin in your pic, there should be a little sensor on the end of it. It bolts up under your headlight bolt.

The black wiring within your circle.

Then look at the pic posted by HemiLonestar you can see he has a slight circle around where the ambient sensor is bolted up.

Did any Ram pickups with the Hemi have an OEM engine oil cooler? I searched here and the internet and only found generic adapters or a kit for Chargers using water cooling.

Oh, anybody use one of the Derale kits?

Same question.

Wonder if the 2500 had a factory oil cooler?
