Should I flush or just drop tranny pan?

I got a 2004 2500 hemi, it has 51k miles on it and over my spring break I plan on changing out all of the fluids in my truck ( engine, axels, trnasfercase, coolant, washer fluid, and transmission) I was going to use royal purple but it dosent seem to be sold where I live so I will maybe go with amsoil or mobile 1 or another good synthetic ( open to suggestions)
But I have read that it is really good to do a complete flush for the tranny but also heard it can be bad. There is the chance that the dirty stuff from the torque convert could possibly get in there. So what do you guys think? Will dropping the pan still be good? or should i do a complete flush.
Also are there any DIY links for tranny fluid change?

Just drop fluid, and maybe change tranny filter...don't flush. IMHO

In addition to your (good) opinion - flushing is not recommended by Chrysler either.

OP - do as you wish...but I would not flush the transmission. Drain, replace *both* filters, and refill with the correct ATF +4 fluid.

When I bought my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Extended Cab 4X4 5.7l Hemi it had 45k on it. I swore that I'd do ALL the fluids at 50k. When I hit 50k I changed the oil and filter, trans. fluid and filter, both front and rear axle fluid, and the transfer case. The reason I did nothing with the antifreeze is because no matter who I asked, I got the same answer....Unless it's discolored it's fine until 100k.

No problems so far after 88,200 now.

In my (and others) opinion, flushing fluids will cause more damage to a vehicle than just changing the fluid. If you would flush the fluid every 500 mi. from day 1 that may be different.

Any way, hope this helps.

i had my trans serviced 2 months ago. they dropped pan drained. and also pumped the remaining fluids out a cooler line. replaced both filters under there re-filled with correct fluids. 250.00 later it felt exactly the same lol. but i felt better i had it done 63,000 miles
