Currently I am in the middle of installing a old school rockford 160.4 under the drivers seat to power my front component. I have the power wire already ran but am wondering where everyone has gotten their ground from when installing the amp under the drivers seat.

Just run it over to one of the bolts holding down the seat and put the wire in between the bolt and the metal floor. Works perfect

That's what I did on my 05. I just sanded the paint down to bare metal and it worked great

are you referring to this bolt on the drivers seat?
I wasn't sure if this was a good enough ground since I didn't know if the black metal part was actually touching the cab of the truck or not.

i used the bolt on the front closest to the door (under the carpet). Yea to put it between that bolt and metal frame would not work well because that is not touching the metal of the truck.

I ended up grounded right into the floor with a self tapping screw and lock washer. I sanded all the paint to get right onto bare metal. Amp sounds great just have to hide all the wires now.

Get rid of the screw and use a bolt. That's not right IMO. The screw will come loose and cause issues.

Again this is my opinion and think your asking for a ground issue.

Yeah I've used bolts in the past. just didnt have one on hand. Ill switch it out soon enough. I've heard other people in say they have used the screw with success so I tried it.
