Remote start?

Anyone know the cheapest and best way to install a remote start system or get a remote start system installed? I had my Grandma's 2013 Nissan Altima for a day and I loved the remote start on it!! Any suggestions would be great

I also have an 02 1500 and recently had Best Buy put in one of the middle of the road viper units. Cost about $300 total. They have cheaper models also. Very happy with it so far.

I've heard good things about Best Buys install team... If you have a local audio shop they may be cheaper

I upgraded my rig with factory remote start for $85 and it was easy. There is a thread on this already that someone posted with the "how to" and where to get what you need. I got mine on eBay from a Doug guy. It was plug and play and even uses my factory key fob. Hit the lock three times, wait a few seconds and it starts.

I know this thread is for 4th gen trucks but I would write to the guy on eBay and ask him if he could flash the unit to your truck. He's a good communicator.

Just spoke to my Dodge Dealer and they say they don't have the factory remote start for my 2003 Dodge 2500. Is this a line to get me to get an aftermarket thru them or do they not have the factory remote start for my truck? I have keyless entry already (they put it in when I bought truck in 2003).

I don't think remote start was an option on early models. You will probably have to go aftermarket with a system from Viper.

I hope you don't have a factory alarm system if your looking to get and after market remote start. I have no idea if they offered a remote start option in 02. I have an 02 myself and the factory alarm is tough to disable and or work around. If you have a factory alarm and you can't get a factory remote start good luck...LOL...

Yep! This ^ x 10! Just put one in my 3rd Gen a few weeks back. Pretty simple and cheap. Way better than the $400 aftermarket stealership version that was in my truck.

If someone needs me to walk them through a viper remote start intall I will help them, I did it in my 2006, everything works like a charm on it.

even set up an option where I can remote start the truck and the halos turn on

Just an FYI, Mopar Parts Online responded to me several days after I purchased a remote start kit for my 2013 Ram 1500: "CEC1M071AA is a (00280)ARO CAMPAIGN PART CANNOT BE ORDERD FOR ARO DEALER EXCEPT BY ARO. We cannot order this part. We have taken it off the order.
The Remote is a special order Item and can take 7-10 days to process. Are you okay with this."
Even though this looks redundant (no, then yes) they said sorry - can't sell this to you. WTF? Since when does a company pick and choose who they sell parts to? There must be something I don't realize about this because it just stinks. Anyway, just sharing. BTW, the part # is 82213587 / $215.05.
