im fairly early on in my searches for info on this but here goes...

ive always been a fan of the stock radio look as it keeps a "clean" look for the dash. problem is they never have enough "features" to keep me satisfied for long. i was looking at going aftermarket for the mere fact that i couldnt put an aux hookup on my stock radio (not easily anyway). when i went to pick up some parts a guy told me that the 07+ stock radios had the aux hookup built in?!?!?!?! IS THIS TRUE????? if so how much work am i looking at to get it in to my 02? or is it even possible.

Well the faces and overall bezels are 2 different shapes so going to take some work but yes it does have an aux port on the lower left corner.

Can't do it, your 02 is PCI bus and 06+ are CAN bus, the 2 are not compatible. What you can do is get a sat radio adapter (Terk makes one) that plugs directly into the back of the head unit, then all you need is an RCA to headphone jack adapter.
