was looking through the new express today, and its like theres just pieces missing, theres a gray plug under the hood release not plugged into anything, theres a plug under my seat not pluged into anything, and i open the hood today to look at my new hemi and, i dont even have a under hood light? seriously, theres a spot and clips for it, but the plug for the wiring harness is capped off? WTF ive never owned or even seen a vehicle with out one? am i the only express owner like this, or is this just dodges way of saving $15

You have to get the luxury package for the underhood light. And the plug under your seat is probably the power seat harness

I forget exactly what all needs to be done but I believe the light and possibly a reflash to enable it

Believe it or not, a lot of newer vehicles do not have under hood lights. Just another way manufacturers are making it harder to work on your own vehicle so you have to take it to the dealer for service.

isn't the express supposed to be a no frills package except for the sport bumper and color matched grill and rear bumper?

sounds like you got the plugs time to add some stuff. Thats how they make the express cheap. Mine stickered for 41k with all the extra goodies

im sure all trucks come with the wiring for everything but just some have options and some dont. its probably cheaper to manufacture them that way. and if the underhood light not being theres bothering you so much by a flash light too keep in your truck :waytogo:

There is a reason why you can get a brand new 390 HP truck out the door for $20K flat. It's got no frills, but it sure is purdy! I love that I don't have all the crap.

As for the underhood lights, go to Autozone, but some of the new Ultrabright LED strips, and be far happier than with the stock crap hood light.

Besides, it's a brand new Ram, other than possibly bursting into flames, you'll never need to open the hood for it being dead, let alone at night.
(And if it did burst into flames, vola! Light!)

for comparison, a 2012 f150 RCBS (YES R C S B) with 5.0 v8 @360HP stickered for $1,000.00 MORE than my 2012 Crew Cab Express. I can add lights but can't add cab...

Plus its $15x 2 million vehicles. I do find it annoying tho

My '07 chevy didn't have an under hood light, think it's kind of a dying option. But thats why I got a Ram right? So I would only have to open the hood once a week to check the oil and not to work on it?
