I was driving up a grass hill in 2wd when my tire started to spin. I stopped to flipped over to 4WD when I noticed that it was the front tire that spun and not the rear... I didnt think much of it at the time but thinking back on it now, why would my front wheel be spinning in 2WD? Anyone know why and care to educate me? I've spun the back one on asphalt before and the front didn't break loose or anything.

So I found somewhere that limited slip can not only change power from one tire to another, it can change the power from front to back axle. Still not 100% but a couple articles I've read have mentioned it briefly...

So today I tested out a theory, while it was raining, and I was on a steep grade, I sat for a second and then stomped on the gas. Front tire spun again. Then I leveled out and stomped on it again and the back end broke loose.

How did you know it was the front tire spinning?

I was my brother move and trying to get to his back yard. My rear tires weren't on the grass yet and my brother was standing in front of me waiting to direct me through a narrow gate. The front driver side chewed up a little bit of grass.

It could have been from the momentum of the truck and tires.

Nope, there was no momentum, I had just backed up, put it in drive and crawled about 6 feet before the spin.

A limited slip is a differential. It can't send power to a completely different axle. The only thing that can do that is the transfer case. Some awd systems can automatically send power back and forth, but your truck doesn't have this.

What years were the AWD models produced? Just '04? Or were there more years?
