Sorry if this is the wrong place, but Im trying to find a set of heavy duty steering for my 95 2500. The stock stuff looks pretty thin, and wanted to see if there was a kit out there before going the custom route. Thanks

If you want some huge DOM tubing with Hiem joints Thuren or Someone simillar can hook you up.

Otherwise, you might consider the 98.5 1 ton crossover steering. I put this on my 1500 and it's hands down one of my best mods. Steering is tight and responsive and toe in doesn't have to be constantly set. It's a straight bolt in for your truck.

I asked this awhile back also.

can you provide more info on what would need to be purchased? can a normal autoparts store supply this, just ask for 98.5 1 ton parts when specifying?

thurn steering requires 5in of lift or more for the most part.

True...but my understanding from DTX is that Don can build one for any truck. You will not be able to run stock 15 or 16 inch rims and you'll have to ream out your knuckles to work.

Yes you did...sorry!

I finally got a list together. These are all Moog numbers and you can also reuse your stock TRE at the pitman arm if you want retain your stock stabilizer on '99 and OLDER trucks. Replace ALL pieces if anything is worn.

For 99 and earlier trucks.

ES3496 (draglink tre)
ES3497 (or OE tre at pitman arm, to ES2496)
ES3498S Sleeve
ES2012S Sleeve
DS1459 LH outer
DS1456 RH outer

Now on 2000 and later trucks, theres a change....the pitman arm taper is different, so instead of an ES3497 you'll need an ES3527 instead. All bolts right together like factory. You can buy these parts anywhere.

EDIT: On 2000/up trucks the new rh tre doesn't have a hole for your stabilizer stud. I fabbed up a mount that clamps to the tre, or thuren sells the clamps ($90.00!) or you can by them from TGC. Duane at 3rd strike can find them too.

I just noticed the OP was asking for a 2500.
I have a 1500.

will the part numbers you listed fit my 1500 without modifications?

I have them on my truck so I'd say yes :)

Avoid steering with heim joints. It'll be great at first, and then degrade to clattery ****.

Just the experience of my friends.

Thanks for the replies. Thuren looks pretty beefy but I definately agree heims wouldn't be best for steering, especially when the truck is my DD. Right now its looking like the 98.5 or more than likely going the custom route using either chevy 1ton ends like my Jeep, or something just as beefy
