got a 95 hd dully, it has a flat bed on it an i cant stand it. i want a real bed on there. guy with a 2004 wants to trade me his bed for the flat bed and i wanted to know if it is a straight swap or would it be better to just find a 2nd gen bed to put on there thanks

welcome to RF. i seriously doubt it is a direct swap. I would look for a 2nd gen bed.

I believe the frame width are going to be the difference. but never hurts to grab a tape measure and check it out

thanks, it is hard finding a bed around my area. still need to find some fenders and inner fenders as well for it. plus all the plastic on the bumper.

Good beds are always hard to find, especially in my area as well.

There's pictures of a white 2n gen with a 3rd gen bed on it floating around
I think it looks kind of silly

it is do able, if you want to fabricate some mounts. that would be the main thing to worry about. frame width isn't an issue, is where the bed bolts to the frame that is. If you don't want to do any fabrication, than i would suggest not to do the swap. If it were me, i would consider it, but i've already got 3rd gen stuff modified to fit into my truck....another option would be for you to tell the guy that he has to cover having his bed mounted to your truck, flat beds are always worth more than regular beds, so it is in his best interest. However, I am with cody, i have seen the pic, and it looks weird...but definitely unique.

i like how the front clip is, i don't like how the bed looks. but i know that doing the clip means doing some cutting on those fenders at the very least....the bed would definitely be the easier mod to do
