Sorry if this has been asked before, I tried searching for the answer, but I couldn't come up with anything. (Tapatalk search kind of sucks).

Anyways, I have a '01 Ram 1500 Sport "Off-road edition" that will need new tires soon. The stock tires are 275/70-R17, but I'm thinking of going with either 285s or 305s. My question is would I have any rubbing issues with either of those sizes?

I'm also considering a 2 inch leveling kit, but I've heard that's a no-no with a truck that is lifted. Since the "Off-road edition" is lifted from the factory, does that mean I can't put in a leveling kit also? Thanks for help this noob out!

Cheers!

The springs are stiffer, giving the off-road the lifted look. If you look at lifts they all will fit but you have to subtract 2 inches. So adding a 5" lift you are only going to be going 3" from where you are now.

I have a 2.5" leveling kit on mine. On my 17s they have 285/70s on them. I am currently running a 295/60/20

i think the 305s should clear without rubbing, but it'll be close. they might rub a little. 285s will fit no rubbing, no problems. i would imagine that you could level your truck, since the "lift" was factory. i don't know much about the sport "off road" edition, or what they actually did the call it a lift. but the level kit should fit in there no problem, and the 205s should fit fine with the level fit. also welcome to RF. i'm sure others will chime in as well,

It's an AMI fuel door. I bought it off a member on another forum.

It looks like you would be able to go like 4- 5 inches bigger.

Now I'm thinking 315s. If I understand right I will have some rubbing at full lock, but I can live with that until I get a leveling kit installed.

Werm, how do you like those Kelly tires? I found 315s online for $230 a tire. Pretty cheap compared to the bigger brand names.

Love them. Did great this last winter too. My dad is running them on his 98, and my best friend has them on his 1 ton ferd, both are happy with them.

Ended up getting them in 285s... Pretty big tread for an "all-terrain" tire
