Ok so I was always under the impression of fillin tires up to the max psi listed on the tire itself. No higher. I'm goin on a decent length trip tomorrow so I wanted to top off my tires. The tire itself says max psi is 80. Somebody I know advised me that it's not safe to fill em up to 80. What do y'all think?? If not 80 like the tire says, what's the proper psi for me to fill 'em to?? Thanks y'all.

Is that cold or hot pressure? Usulally the tire said max pressure X lbs cold.

A few "depends" here...tire size, rim width, wear pattern.

Example, my tires say 65 psi max cold. But for proper wear pattern and traction I usually run 55 psi front (large tire narrow rim) and 40-45 in the rear when unloaded. That gives me a uniform wear and best on road traction.

AP or AT tires are not quite so finicky as mudders.

Not that you have time but checking a tires "footprint" by running a piece of sidewalk chalk crossways on the tread, driving on a flat as possible surface and checking the width and quality of the "chalk print" can be helpful. A consistant amount of chalk on the tire should leave a consistant mark with no faint or heavy spots.

Are those stock sizes with stock rims? If they are, just check your doorjamb. Tires shouldn't be run at there maximum inflation rating. Faster tread wear along the middle of the tire.

That happens when running max psi and not hauling/towing anything. All depends on what you use your truck for. I constantly have anywhere from 1,000-2,000 lbs of tools in the bed or haul about 3,000 lbs. I run 75 front and rear. If you're not hauling/towing anything though I would run min psi listed on the door.

Yea i should have cleared that up. Don't run them at high psi without load. I see that on passenger cars all the time at work. Tires are always over inflated.

Use what it says on the door jamb. Or a couple psi higher. Dont use the tire max. psi.
