so how complex is the o/d button to relocate? I was thinking of chopping the end off my shifter and relocating the o/d button through a bored out chally shifter? anyone ever thought of or did this?

I might be moving mine once I get a chance to get my custom knob made, but hoping I can still attach it to the end. Need to figure out how to get the shifter knob off without breaking it.

The shifter knob is glued on the stick. You have to break it to get it off. Disconnect the negative battery cable so you don't short the wires if they get damaged, grab the knob firmly with a good set of channel licks, and then twist like mad. If your lucky just the glue will break and you can twist it of the stick. If you're me it will break into a million pieces, a button and 2 wires.

I wonder if I take a heat gun if the glue would loosen up easier

nice work badger lol heat gun sounds reasonable. I would like to try the chally shifted but kinda worried about messing up the shifted when boring it out.

The stick is smaller inside the knob than it is through the rest of it. The diameter is similar to a no 2 pencil with the robbed shaved off. About 3/8 - 1/4 in diameter. Do you have a pic of the knob? I've made lots of knobs and done swaps like this a bunch. For your overdrive button though you can run a toggle switch instead. It works the exact same way fundamentally as the button does and looks way better IMO

Oh no. The acrlic is still in a 2"x4" block. Need to get mine off to see how we will mount, and also looking at lighting it up, as the acylic is translucent

Light it up with leds, the shaft is hollow on your shifter I believe. Mine is solid since the o.d. button is on the dash. If you could put a button into the plastic on the end of the knob that would be sick. My antler is attached with epoxy just like factory. I would assume you would do the same with the acrylic you have Luke. But I would still like to see codes new shifter he wants to mount.
