Ok, what is the trick to removing the headliner? Is it just held up with clips of sorts like the dash bezel?

I know when I took the one out of my Jeep a few years ago it was just held up by all the trim. Dropped it all down and then it came right out.

standard cab? extra cab? Search my thread on 'installing cab lights'. I've got a good description in that thread on how to drop the headliner in a QCSB; it's quite similar in a Std cab truck.

in a nutshell, it's held up by the torx screws for the visors, OHC pinch clips (or screws, depending which style you have), and a couple push-style clips..

I have an 97 extended cab with the cloth headliner. There is no trim pieces up there.
