I did a motor swap from my 98 into my 01. I used my 98 wiring and PCM just to be on the safe side but now my dash says nobus and the engine light is on. Are the pin configurations the same for both PCMs or is going to screw something up if I plug in the original 01 PCM. Some insight would be nice. Thanks

The 98 pcm may not have a good ground. Double check the ground. The only thing that may happen if you use the 01 pcm is that the truck won't run right.

I did some research after I posted this and checke both wiring schematics. They have have the pins matched from what I read. I put it in and the truck ran perfect motor wise but wouldn't shift into drive or over drive so I just put my 98 PCM back in. I can live with the light on as long as it shifts fine. I appreciate the help though.
