Is there a way to tell of the engine in my truck is the 5.9? I was told from the seller it was but he apparently screwed me on numerous things he claimed weren't wrong and now I don't trust the fact that he told me it was in fact a 5.9. Thanks for any help

This is the easiest way to tell. Look at the VIN code on your dash on the drivers side. You are looking for the 8th digit. If it is a "Y" then here is what you have: 5.2L 8-cyl Engine Code [Y] If it is a "Z" then this is what you have: 5.9L 8-cyl Engine Code [Z]

and...while difficult to see, the displacement is cast inot the block towards the rear up by the head.
