spark plug broke off in head

Well on the 95 ram i broke the 7th cylinder spark plug off and to make matter worse i broke the easy out off to. Any other oprions besides pulling the head? If i pull the head then how do I get the plug out? Thanks guys for all the help.

Get it to a pro before it becomes worse. It will only cost you more the longer you try to get it out yourself. Trust me I work in a machine shop I deal with this on a daily basis.

I don't mean to sound rude so please don't take it like that but what can they do with a spark plug broke off and an easy out broke off? What can they do that I can't?

Good advice, but being a Pro am curious, Where did it Break? and was the Engine Bone Cold which is one of two important steps for install/removal of sparkplugs and is it a steel head?

Yea it's a 360 all cast iron. The porcelain and the nut of the plug broke off. So everything below the nut is there except the porcelain in the center is gone. And the easy out broke off in the hole. Engine was cold it was just the trucks been sitting for 3yrs it was stone cold when it broke .

OK so that is not good when the nut part is gone, problem with using easy outs is they are not made to break torque so won't tell you what you should have done after getting the easy out in there. Did you use a real big one and is there any room to drill again.

It is very hard to work down there with a drill unless you can go deadon from the fender well, if that is the case you could try one more thing if not it might be a bench job to get it out.

If you used a big easyout that took up most of the opening then you might be ukered. The danger now is that further attempts can result in foreign matter getting into the piston area.

Can you apply heat to it without burning anything up? Should help loosen but this may be the head job you don't like. Good luck

Hate to say it, But i would pb blast it and wate. (If you cant heat it) Then take a impact screw driver to it and see if it'll turn. Not ideal but maybe it could break the seal enough to turn.

Yep do both (soak it good then heat) and stick a flathead in there. I got a small propane oxygen set up with cool torch handle that can get in some tight spots and has saved my ass more than once. Made by burnzene i think, its in the shed.

We will use a carbide end mill to cut out the ez-out & then remove the broken plug end & chase the threads. All without damaging the threads in the head.

Same metric threads as the 02 sensor and the Tool is around 10 Bucks.
