How can I wire a push button to be able to test crank the engine from under the hood?

I'm good with electronic, so the question is mostly:
1) What minimum do I need to get the starter to engage, the spark plugs to fire and the ECU to let the engine run?
2) Where are the best points to attach the wires? (I'd just have it attached if I'm working on the engine)

Anybody make a ready-made versions that aren't $$$$$$$?

Key would have to be in the on position to send power to the coil. Otherwise you would just jump the starter relay. Truck won't run though without the key sending power to comp and coil

Or you could probably wire switches in to bypass the key switch

If what you want is just for it to crank from under the hood, thats easy. If you want it to run, forget everything except putting the key in the ignition and turning it to run. Then you can hit the starter from under the hood and it'll start up.

All you need is to get power to the starter relay. Thats easy enough. Just pull the top of the fuse panel off and locate the underside of the starter relay. Then splice a wire into the brown wire from the underside of the relay and run it out of the box, use at least 14ga wire. Then get yourself a shielded butt spade connector and leave a 2in pigtail right outside the fuse box. Get yourself a remote starter switch with alligator clips.

Whenever you want to start the car from under the hood, turn the key on,clip one alligator clip to the positive battery terminal and the other to the pigtail and hit the button. If you just want to crank the engine without it starting, just turn the key off.
