Yes you will lose low end, and yes it will cause the CEL to come on. I wouldnt do it. Not worth the loss of power. But there are simulators out there that can get rid of the CEL. Basically it tricks the computer into thinking you have a cat.

You can do a nonfouler on the o2 for the light to bot come on. If your just gonna street it leave the cat on.

If you already took care of this, sorry for the late reply. New here and going back through old threads. Getting rid of the cat does NOTHING. I have a 98 318 and I had mine cut off, gutted, then welded back in. No loss in power, no loss in MPG's, and no CEL. Been a year and a half.

$150 to gut it was a hell of a lot better than putting a new one for $350..

I'm also running a gutted kitty with factory muffler and no problems here... I'm getting 16-17 MPG and good power too... No CEL lights and on O2 sensor issues...
