Rocks in brakes

I was on my way to get some fire wood this morning. When I got to the site, I found out that the roads are still a bit wet, and started to sink. Then, I got that annoying squeal as my tires turned. Knowing it is rocks in the brakes, I tried to flush it out with water, but, after doing that, and driving home (some times it would be squealing, other times not) I am still getting the squeal, and some grinding noises.
I guess my question here is, is there an easy way to get these out? Short of taking the wheels off? If there is, I would love to know, if not, then I guess I will have to cancel my plans tomorrow and take tires off and remove rocks.
Aside from the embarrassing noises, how much damage could it really do?
