What do you mean, automatic to manual? Or a regular ram to a sport model. Either way yes.

not completely true.. but maybe for the gasser world.

I know my 12V diesel's tcase from the auto (241LD) wouldn't work on the nv4500 after the swap.
I had to source a manual tcase (241HD) as the splines were bigger.

Yeah that doesn't apply to the Cummins world. Even if the splines were different its the same tcase for the gassers so swap the input/output shafts if they were. Besides as a general fuller I rebuild tcases everytime I put a used one in a truck. It's fairly simple and just good sense.

true, true. I've rebuilt quite a few 231s. Worst part is taking that damned snap-ring off of the output shaft .

Did I miss something? Are the adapter plates the same on the auto & manual? Didn't Dodge use a variety of T/Cs in the second gen. I believe my V-10 has the same as the diesel. The 5.9 gassers used a different T/C. The splines are also different I thought.
So bottom line you need to be sure you get the same model T/C auto to stick.

I'm pretty sure the difference is merely an adapter plate
