need some help

Hi there, I'm new to this so I've posted this in the wrong place please point me in the right direction. I have an 05' 3500 with a 5.9 24v, it has a AFE stage 2 cold air intake. has 180,000km on it, the problem I'm having is it starts really hard. I've put new batteries in it but now i'm starting to think that the lift pump is having issues. is there anything I can do to check this? or is it something a diesel shop needs to check? if it gets cold at all outside and I don't plug the truck in, it won't start.

It probably wouldnt hurt to check the grid heater relay to make sure its still working
If not that I would start checking fuel pressures

While you are at it, check the cables all the way through the starting system to make sure everything is tight and in good shape
