I am considering the purchase of a 2009 5.9 2500 with less than 20,000 miles. I will be pulling a 5th wheel. What experience have you had with this engine? This will be my first diesel.

The 5.9 wasnt available in 2009. It would either be the 6.7L Cummins or the 5.7L Hemi in that truck. If it is the 6.7L Cummins, then I would look to get rid of the DPF and EGR and add a tuner ASAP. They really hold back the power and mileage that this motor is capable of. In stock form, you can expect about 15-17mpg...with the deletes and tuner, you can expect 18-20mpg. At only 20k miles, there shouldnt be any worn out parts that would be obvious to the eye.
