Sorry to drag an old thread but I'm interested in any updates.
How have the lights held up.... andy melting of the grille after prolonged use.... any rubbing issues that have surface.... anything else?
I'm about to undertake a similar task [different lights, same mounting method] and was interested in anything further you may have to add.
Thanks.

Nice, that would be something that I wouldn't mind doing myself.

Nope, I have had no issues. Its funny you brought this up because I just finished a HID conversion of the KC's lights. I also tinted them with laminx and plasticdipped my grill insert. These are 55W 5K H3 HID light kit. I used gorilla glue along with the metal clips to hold the bulbs in the housing. The rest was just wire splicing. Here are some pics!

that lamin-x really makes it look sweet I think....... i really like the set up, and would like to do it to my truck! but i have to ask, when/where do you use your KC lights? i can see if you go offroading and stuff, but i've seen some lowered trucks on here who have the same setup, so i doubt they do much offroading. i'm not good with thinking outside the box...

Thanks man! Ya, they're really bright so you can't use them on main roads. I usually use them when I'm out in the country where all the deer are or at camp. Basically anywhere BUT in the city haha

That's awesome! I was just talking to my mom the other day about doing this after seeing a 3rd gen at home depot with lights behind the grille but I didn't think 4th gens had enough room. I wonder how led light bars would work?
