The other day i went to put my 2013 RAM 2500 (5.7 hemi) in reverse and nothing happened. You can here it click slightly but it acts like neutral when giving it gas. All other gears work fine. Any idea what may have gone wrong? Thanks for any help!

Hi WY_elkhunter,
We want to ensure your vehicle is safe and performing optimally, and always recommend a diagnosis at a certified dealership. Please feel free to reach out if you decide to visit the dealership, I would be happy to assist you with scheduling an appointment.

yes it is a 4x4. it does not work no matter what I am in 4HI, 2wd, 4low. it happened while I was up hunting in the mountains. I was able to drive the truck 120miles home in forward gears which worked just fine. Park gear also works fine. when shifting the gear selector to reverse you can hear it engage and get maybe 1-2" rearward movement but that is it. when giving throttle it just revs high like it is in neutral.

I wpuld recommend in taking it into a dealership to let them diagnose the problem. It could be a simple fix but it needs to be professionally checked out.

I have an appointment scheduled. Just thought I would see if anyone else has had this problem. If it was something I could fix myself without removing the entire tranny I would much rather go that route but if it is a complete rebuild then it would be beyond what I want to get into. Also kind of hoping I would find out what kind of $ I am in for so I don't go into shock at the dealership! hahahaha ....In all seriousness I appreciate the replies. you guys are fast!
