Well I took my truck over to my local dealer today to have my software updated with the "hacking" issue and they said they don't even have the software yet to update it. "I was the first truck they tried"

In reference to the recall they had zero answers. Stated "the media blows it all out of proportion"

So it's very reassuring that no one knows. Lol

Man you dealership knows of software updates. WOW!!! :jawdrop: I said something about that to mine and they looked at me funny.

I sure hope the media blew it out of proportion. There are a lot of nice Rams, but I like mine a whole lot and would want to keep it.

The concerning part to me is I run my trucks vin number and I see no recalls for it. And I dont ever remember taking it in for the rear axle pinion one or getting any notification it could be faulty. Mine is a '12 purchased new Easter weekend in '12 should I be concerned?

If you ran your VIN and nothing came up then you should be ok BUT, I would double check with the dealer to make sure, sometimes a few will slip through the cracks.

If that is your truck in your signature then damn man fight to keep it. That orange rocks! :peace:

I don't think anyone can force you to sell your truck. At least I hope that's not what this country is coming to.

If it's a defect which makes the truck a lemon they might be able to. Can't answer the 2nd question. Sorry.

Mine is a 2011, and nothing shows up for it for any recalls either.

I think the pinion nut recall was for only certain months of manufacture during those years.

This is weird. The media must have screwed this up. My 2010 shows no pending recalls. Obviously not all trucks are affected. However, I wouldn't mind having them buy mine back. The exhaust manifold has the leak that makes the ticking noise. It goes away when it warms up. It is annoying and probably won't be the last of my problems with this truck. I have seen many people upset with the same issue. And whats to say which VINs are affected by this recall? Parts are parts and they are all built to spec? Right? So an issue like the recall in question you would think would be all models. Who knows

So last month I purchased my first Ram (2012) and have been reading and learning a lot from everyone on here. I've already started to order upgrades for it to make it mine. Now this! Even if my truck is not included in the recall (which I doubt it is) I feel as if I'll take a bath if I were to sell it. Anyways love the truck so far but I'm concerned about my future resale value. Just disappointed and not a great way to start my first Dodge experience.:Stupid Me:

My truck is on the recall

I looked it up by VIN. It's a loaded Laramie. Wonder if I should try to take the buy out vs. keeping the truck and its probable lousy open market resale. It only has 45k on it and it comes in around 28k on kbb for a private party deal in "good" condition.

Does anyone know how they will determine what they'll buy it back for?

What site did you look on?. I'm just curious, but I'm not gonna lose my ass on the lift and everything. I'd want it fixed though.

My vin says it's not recalled but I don't see what's different in the steering between models for mine not to be recalled
