You can use blinds extender tube, they are cheap and you can move it and remove anytime

thats just too much like the "man step" thing for has, although its funny in the pix of that thing in the link they actually have this installed in a truck that has a man step in it lol

Tell me about it...lol. Took me a while to remember mine was assisted. lol. Now it's got me spoiled so if I ever go to lower someone else's tailgate, I have to remember to not just unlatch it and let go of it...lol.

You can get them all over, many people order them online but I got mine down at the local Oreileys. 25 bucks I think and they had them for Ford, Chevy and Dodge. They might even make these things for Toyota and Nissan, or anything else that has a traditional tailgate but that might only be an online availability thing.

TRUTH ^^^ It's pretty heavy...
Actually for my short bed the mat weighs about 130 lbs after trimming. The 5x7 mat weighed 150 lbs before I fixed it. I suppose that is an important consideration for some. As for my 3500 CTD, it just doesn't sweat it... and it makes a fantastic base for my Arctic Fox 865 TC.
