ARH Longtubes arrived!

Got my longtubes in from Matt/Moe's! Thought I'd post a few pics pre-coat, so those that are thinking about them can know what to expect. The welds on the top of the collector and the porting job arent what I thought they'd be. On the plus side, the bends look good, and the whole set was very clean out of the box, and no **** anywhere. Its also my first set with a compression only/no gasket connection so not sure what to expect there. The only other brand longtubes I've bought in the past were B&B so thats all I can compare them to. B&B's quality was unbelievable, all the welds looked like the weld at the bottom of the collector on the ARH, but they also charged an arm & a leg for a set. So overall I'm very satisfied with ARH for the price, plus they're the only longtube manufacturer to step up for the 4gs.

Should get them back from JetHot next week for install, cant wait!

Havent decided if I want to spend a saturday messing with it, or spend to have it done. I still need to take a good look from up under to see how tight things are, I'll do tha this week and decide. Funny story, on my last header install I learned to disconnect both battery cables when putting them in. On my old truck, I was slipping the drivers side header up into place from under the truck, which took a bit of playing to get it to go up. At some point I tapped the header against the starter and psshhhhh! it looked like the deathstar exploding Scared the hell out of me. I was thinking I must have hallucinated disconnecting the negative cable. Then I had to play Operation, probably tapped it two more times getting it out, so I could figure what the hell I had done wrong... the black cable was off. Had no idea the starter was still live, but I know now

Speaking of Jet-Hot, have you guys seen the custom coating they are doing on headers now? New Premium Colors | Jet-Hot Ceramic Coatings They've got full-on graphics capability for headers... Crazy!

You will be very happy with Jet Hot. I had them coat a set of headers for my 03, and they were flawless. I'm going to have to check out the graphics thing though...sounds cool.

You are going to love them. I put the same set on mine about a month ago. took me about 10 hours. Install went well. The only problem I had was installing the drivers side because of the oil dipstick location. Other than that take off the inner fender wells and it is right in front of you. Also I had no problems with the compression fittings leaking(quite surprised). One very important thing is to make sure not to over tighten the bolts into the head. Cant remember the torque value for it right now. Also I used some anti seize on the bolts into the head. Congrats!

Never use a torque spec on anything other than a clean dry bolt / fastener!
You put something like anti-seize on a thread and the torque specs are moot.

If I ever bought myself a set is have to finish the weld all the way around and clean up the inside of the ports. Other than that they are nice.

Got'em back from Jet-Hot today ~ 1300* polished ceramic coating, nice and bright. Unfortunately sending one back, they didnt pack the flanges properly which gouged the coating on one in transit . Sucks cause otherwise they were perfect.
