i also live on the surface of the sun... its not the battery wrap that does it.. its just the heat in general. i have never had a battery last more than 2 years. doesn't matter if its a wet battery or a gel.. phoenix kills them.
Has anyone had any issues with this unit an heat in the cab? i know if i leave my ipad or phone in the truck in the phoenix summer it wont start because its too hot. i would hate to have the same issue with my radio because its 160 deg in the cab and i cant use my ac for 45 minutes..

I just use a magnet mount on the dash for my Ipad and my Iphone.. it works well and only has the base on the dash when nothing is attached. i wanted to do in dash install, but it's just too much money to have the dash moulded to fit and then have to pop it out to use my backup cam.

wouldn't you be able to just line the holder with tinfoil or something and then just fill it with resin or something that hardens? Then you should still be able to pull it out when not needed.
