I got the 1500 at 29k miles so missed the break-in which leaves some questions. But since I have owned it (now 102k) I have changed oil and filter every 4k-5k with synthetic 5w-20. Lifter Failure
Lifter fail here as well, took the cam with it...pics attached. Lifter and cam replacement can be done at home with knowledge and time, but the dealer or a repair shop will quote you $4000 +/- for the job. Was your $3600 price tag for all lifters or just the damaged one?- Alan Summers

Hey big13, was the software upgrade covered under warranty? Upgrades should be for the life of the vehicle IMO! Did they do it while you waited? I wonder if 2010's have software upgrades pending or in a TB somewhere...- Alan Summers

The roll out version of any new designs can always be subject to design issues, build issues, etc. Just the way it is with any technology, as time progresses the kinks can be worked out. I had the exact same issue Rafysurf, just a different cylinder (3). I have attached pics of my lifters and cam. Odds are you have the same problem and it will only get worse. Suddenly poor acceleration, hard starting, and a decline in gas mileage.
I have a question on the throttle body. Can you really just push it open with your fingers with the vehicle off? I thought that was a no-no. I want to clean mine as well but sure that I read on here somewhere not to manually open it...was that my imagination? Thanks in advance!- Alan Summers

I do not have the idle hours available, nor do I think it has idled any more or less than any other vehicle. That is a tough one to quantitate! Are you aware f issues in the past due to excessive idling?- Alan Summers

Sluggishness and bad gas mileage 2013 hemi 4x4 big horn
How bad is the ticking noise? Is it getting worse? Can you tell if the ticking is coming from the exhaust manifold or the valve cover area? I do not know if any of the 13's had lifter issues but my 2010 certainly did/does...- Alan Summers

Two posts ago, I mentioned $600 for plug replacement. That was actually for a full service tune-up, plugs, filters, oil, tire rotation and whatever else they do at 30, 60 and 90.- Alan Summers

When I say lifter noise it was a tapping/ticking. This, despite very regular oil changes with the recommended 5w-20. Threads on this site claim that the correct viscosity is critical for the MDS system to function properly. It looks to me like the MDS system is a poor design that really starves...- Alan Summers

That's the ball park price from the dealer for 16 lifters and the cam. Keep in mind they price out $600 to replace the plugs! So I had the typical lifter noise that some of these early 4th gens had as the lifter slowly was destroyed. It was noticeable but not bad, as the lifter really went and...- Alan Summers

Sorry for the late response, been working out of town forever. So the saga continues...I did replace all the lifters/cam and it got rid of the cylinder misfire on #3. The lifter and corresponding cam lobe were toast (pics attached). Within 24 hours out pops a P306, also code for the p3400...- Alan Summers

Okay, bad lifter on cylinder 3. Going to do them all and replace the water pump and thermostat while it is all apart and fix the manifold issues.
