Thanks, what about in the globe box? Is there a code? On chevy in the glove box there is a bunch of codes. G80 is a limited slip.

From 1998 on did all 4x4 rams, 1500 and 2500 come with some kind of limited slip rear diff or was that an option? Living where I live and using it for what I will use it for a limited slip rear end is a must.

Ok, I'm seeing quite a few in that mileage range that don't say in their ads that they have been replaced. Do you know what it cost to rebuild or replace one?

If I go with a second gen would you be afraid to buy one that has not had the transmission replaced with 130-150k miles?

Great info thanks. It's the 4.7 going to be song enough to push 32 inch tires and be able to still tow a few thousand pound trailer and load?

Thanks, that is what I want to hear. I think if I go with a 2nd gen I would want a manual so the tranny would be no issue. I know the 5.2 and 5.9 are pretty much bullet proof so that should just leave regular maintenance.

I have always been a Chevy guy but I'm looking into the Ram. With the money I'm willing to spend I will probably be buying an 02-04 4x4 gas engine, 1/2 or 3/4 ton. I know the previous years are known to have bad trannys. What are the known problems of the 02-04? Did they fix the tranny?
