Well I got the manifold gasket changed and the plenum plate/gasket changed. Truck temp runs a few degrees cooler and the heater will cook you out. The truck sounds better but I still have terrible acceleration and power. Not sure what route to go next.
Yeah I saw some notes of people saying the leak was allowing oil to make it to the plugs resulting in a misfire. I'm a tad nervous about the Wednesday project and I think I've watched Matt Paynes videos about 5 times now.
So to update, I will be ordering the parts to do a plenum/intake gasket change and I'll see about changing that thermostat. I plan to do this on Wednesday. I'll post an update by Wednesday afternoon.
Also, what problems can valve cover gaskets cause if they fail?
Yeah I'll be running a compression test when the weather clears up here. I also plan to check the plenum gasket. I went to change out the ignition coil and the bottom screw was so soft that when I turned the socket it striped it.... 10/10.
Added a note to things i've noticed with this issue...
A while ago ( 5 months ) I noticed a drastic loss in power. When I floor it the truck takes it's time getting up to speed. When on the interstate going 65+ it almost refuses to accelerate. It even has a tough time keeping highway speed going up hills. Sometimes it feels like it just wont down...
