    I have the build sheet for both of my dodges ('02 2500 & '00 1500); the sheet for my 2500 says plainly 47RE transmission but the sheet for my 1500 says "DDC 5-Speed HD Manual Transmission." It is a 4x4 regular cab with a 5.2. Do you guys think this is a NV3500 or NV4500? There is no tag on it...

    The leak has become exponentially worse, couple mechanic friends think it's the input shaft seal; is there any way to change it without dropping the transmission?

    a/c compressor turns on w/just heat and no defrost

    From what I understand this is normal, the compressor runs when using heat to dehumidify the cab air. I was told this by a mechanic friend a few years ago because I asked the same thing.
