    8 mpg --> 03 2500 4x4 5.7L

Have had this rig for about 5 years it has 187K now, 10K miles ago spun #8 bearing, replaced crank, timing set, and intake valves, etc... Engine runs great but gets 7.5 to 8.2 mpg. Possibly vacuum leak, but normally that includes a rough idle, but if vacuum issue so, where? Can smell gas in...

2003 Ram 2500 5.7 ETC Light Limp Mode

I have had similar issues, but not limp mode. I read somewhere that a 50-100 mile drive can help teach the computer a new set of operating limits. If you look at some of my threads. I didn't have the coil or PCM issue. My problem took me a bit further to replace an APPS with a unit from an...

Great idea. I'll try to get the active code during the stall. might take a few restarts.

What did you do to your Gen3 today?

I had that happen when I didn't lubricate the oil filter as i put it into place. A dry oil filter weal sticks more and acts like it is tight, but when the oil pump gets fluid to it, it begins to leak slowly until the oil is gone. Hope it was something simple like this and not a bigger issue.

Well. Keeping my troubleshooting pretty open right now. I'd say the symptom is rooted in the torque converter or engine downshift or PLC and less in the engine or idle or throttle body. We have the one major symptom and several surrounding techniques as follows: When the truck slows to a stop...

03 5.7L slowing to a stop idle issue.

The lighting bolt comes on after about 5-6 seconds of braking during movement of the vehicle in either direction. If the brake is released or if the truck completely stops before the lightning bolt lights, normal operation is resumed. If the brake is released after the lightning bolt, then the...

Adding winch for receiver as well as accessories?

Very likely you will need to run heavier wires. The current to run a winch is often higher than that needed to charge a battery, which is what the connector near the rear hitch is designed for. A normal winch cable should look like the ones connected to the battery, as those are needed for the...

Hole on side of gas tank

The auto parts places have a fuel tank repair kit. I have used JBweld, then kept the tank below the patch level for a couple weeks and it works alright.

    Possible Electrical Problem - 2005 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi

Another idea is a bad connection at one of 7 places. either end of 3 cables in particular. 1. The battery ground cable, either the battery or the block end. 2. The positive battery cable, either the battery or the fuse block/starter ends (depends on where your cable runs to) 3. Alternator charge...

03 5.7L slowing to a stop idle issue.

Every time the truck is travelling more than 5mph and I depress the brake for 4-6seconds 'dash lightning bolt' lights up as the throttle reduces airflow and the engine begins to stall. Within 2 seconds of the lighting bolt the engine dies, unless the brake is released and depressed. The brake...

Shifter won't come out of park

This sounds to me like the steering wheel has jammed against the brake lock pin. Even though the solenoid has activated the pin is jammed and the steering wheel needs to be turned either left or right to release the pin fully. Hope this helps.

Okay, so... This took a while to get back to. The '05 pedal and upgrade to the existing unit functioned well. I had to learn more about the Ram though. Apparently, after you 'calibrate' the gas pedal, the vehicle needs to be driven for 50 miles or something. I have heard that from Cadillac...

So, I found a couple of wiring diagrams shown below, for my attempt to use a 2006 gas pedal in place of the 2003. I'll need to look at extending the wires from the battery area to inside the firewall. When I pulled the 2006 gas pedal, I cut the wires from the 06 wiring harness. Glad I did as...

Sounds like a good plan to keep it on the road. I may have just got an odd unit that failed at 180K. But since the parts aren't available and we like our ride, plan ahead where you can.

The original connection on the left with the red insert is smaller and tighter pin grouping, 2003-2004. The next connection on the right with the yellow insert has larger pins and wider spacing, 2006. Naturally, wit colors differ as well. Oh, did I mention the unique bracket to adapt the pedal...
