Yea cans aren't meant for large flat areas like that. You could buy some of that knifeless tape and then apply vinyl over that and it would cut to whatever shape you want.
I'm sorry but that looks horrible imho... The texture just ruins the look for me.
Dip isn't meant for high contact areas like step bars. It would have been fine on the bumper if you applied it correctly(assuming you didn't since it didn't peel off in one piece).
While I understand your frustration I think you're over reacting a bit.
You don't know it was some inside job of that the other truck made it to a container/boat, might still be cruising around or just stripped down. Your truck is just that... a truck so the mud isn't going to damage it and...
Definitely don'y use plasti dip to tint headlights, the rubber coating will actually hold headlight heat in and can cause bubbling.melting of the plastic headlight.
+1 on the black headlight housings. You could also take them apart and spray the inside black yourself.
Mythbusters actually said the exact opposite a few years ago. They did a test with no cover, tailgate down and a cover and found an empty bed with a cover was technically the best. The difference's weren't much if I remember correctly.
The biggest issue is people who think they can just grab 5 cans and do their whole car. That is giving dip a bad name imo. I've done a few cars and as long as they're done right they can look good and last long.
DO NOT DO THE WHOLE TRUCK WITH CANS!
I'm serious, do NOT use cans lol. Cans are meant for small items like rims and badges.
A whole truck depending on the color/size should be around 6-8 gallons. Matte white can be a pain to keep clean but it is nice when done right. I run a small side...
If your tires were dry (no tire shine) then the dip will adhere quite strongly and not want to peel off. Whenever I dip a set of rims I make sure to dress the tires but you need to be careful not to get any shine on the rims themselves.
