04 Hemi - "Check Guage" light and sudden loss of oil pressure

Get a reading from a mechanical gauge to verify your pressure is ok. Sludge, while not aknown problem on the hemis, it was a concern on the 4.7s. That could effect the oil pressure. Not to scare you since them a majority of time it is the sending unit going bad as "Blackram" mentioned, a...

    Fuel Cleaners-are they worth it?

Good quality gas has more than enough detergents, however coking can still occur in the TB, so cleaning it every timey you complete a tune up is a good idea. An engineer from Exxon years back told me he runs the same brand gas for 5000 miles then changes to another Tier 1 gas for the next 5000...

    Synthetic or Regular Oil?

Use Amsoil since 6k. Picked up a little gas milage, but the biggest improvement is in the cranking speed in the colder mornings here in the mountains of the northeast. Synthetic oil is superior at the extreems, cold or hot.

    Tire Size

The 35s would look great, but as "chedched" said, the truck would become a dog. You need a 4.56 gear and a 4.11 may not be enough. The earlier 4.7s were not a powerhouse in a stock state.

    Transmission problem or normal?

If you do not know when the trans fluid and filter was replaced do it now. The oem service intervals are fairly short and filter seating has to be spot on to manintain transmission performace. Also, the only fluid to use is AFT+4

    Just my luck

Every state has it's own rules. Here in Jersey, if a government vehicle is at fault, by state law, you put in the claim to your own insurance company. The deductible is covered by the government agency at fault. If you do not have coverage, the government will cover the entire amount. The...

    90k service due...can't afford it

:imo: Do not be overly concerned unless you have been towing or otherwise beaing the truck. I would quess more people change the plugs between 40 and 50K than at 30. The issue is the aluminum head and the plug pulling out the treads if not coated. My plugs have comeout clean with only a...

Need help deciding on high mile 1500

I know a clean truck with no rust would get my attension too, but it is a very used truck. Without knowing it's history, what price would you pay if you had to replace the trans, engine or rear. The suspension may have to be completely rebuilt at some time. Before I would do anything, have a...

    odometer

I have 33 inch 20's I run in the summer and 31.5 inch 17's for the winter. The speedometer and odometer is off about 5% with the larger tire. I learned to live with it, just remember the speedometer is slow if you like the press your luck on the highway. I have heard that the dealer charges...

    Help with next step

Nice work getting some useful upgrades at a reasonible cost. You will need it for the gas tank. As a point of reference, what is gas costing there on the left coast. The only thing Jersey has going for it is the price of gas. Just filled up with BP gold, $3.749
