I usually run champions copper. I was wondering if the iridiums or the double platinum work better for the hemi. I pretty much have bolt ons and a programmer and I would like to see some gains with different spark plugs. Would do you guys recommend.? Im really heavy on the gas pedal so what would be best for my driving habits? Thanks in advanced

When I did my Cam swap Inertia sent me NGK 5306 plugs. I guess the colder running plugs are better for performance applications. Don't know if you'd see any gains in performance or MPGs by simply switching spark plugs.

The absolute best plugs you can use for the hemi are regular old copper plugs. Believe it or not the iridiums and higher end plugs tend to not work as well. You wouldn't notice any power gains from just changing plugs anyway unless your old ones were destroyed. Keep in mind the recommended change interval for hemi plugs is 30k miles.

I just feel like the copper champions are cheap. I want to run better plugs and at the same time last me a while. I drive my truck hard

This has been a debated discussion on the LX car page for over 10 years and digging through proven testing results they had, the only way you'll see a benefit of iridium or platinum plugs is if you are running giggle gas or have a boosted setup - otherwise you are just throwing money down the drain (and there have been reports of random miss-fire/PCM shutdown/limp mode because the voltage going thru the ignition system isn't reading properly, though those are few and far between)...

NGK5306 plugs have worked great in my truck for a good long time. Over 173k miles now and I'm on my 4th or 5th set. They just work.

The biggest advantage to iridium plugs would be longevity on our motors. The reason the newer Rams have 100,000 mile spark plug change intervals is they switched from the copper plugs.

Colder spark plugs don't make more power either. They're only useful in boosted setup where cylinder temps are already super high and you don't want a hot spark plug accidentally igniting your mixture prematurely.

I like the iridium because they last longer. The cost more in the end, sure, but if it saves me time and only costs a few extra bucks I'll usually do it.

2 or 3 hours to swap plugs every couple of years or so (all 16), I'll stick with the coppers.

Limp mode/ cylinder misfire?

Hard to tell but it sounds and feels like I have a misfire or go into limp mode. It's only happened three times since I've been supercharged for about 9k miles or so. Air/fuel ratio goes all the way up to 17 and I lose power in the gas pedal and hear a slight tick from the motor. Help!

Dude that's BAD. You're running SUPER lean and that ticking is detonation. Your motor is blowing itself up. Get a new tune ASAP.

Use one temp colder plugs as well

Ouch!
its way safer to run it a little rich with cooler plugs.
detonation=ring landings meltdown or worse on a SC application.

..or every 2-3 mos like me :) ...I drive hard and fast (sometimes) but like Dan said, it's cheap enough and I want to run optimum all the time.. I just changed them saturday :)

Iridiums seem to have mixed results. Lots of people say they suck, I got set for free a while back and ran them (gasp with shorty wires!) with no problems. IMO they aren't worthy the expense. Complaints about platinums seem to be pretty consistent.

I put the coppers in mine. No complaints and it saves money. Learned a lesson trying to push them to 60k miles though. Dont do that!

SPARK PLUG – 16EA – CHAMPION COPPER PLUS 570 best to use on a stock or mild modded 5.7 HEMI. My last set went 60K, replaced with the same plugs. My engine is mildly modded.
