2017 RAM BH, blown engine at 27K miles

Hmm...no replies to this one. Well...here's the "official" followup. In the report, it was listed as having suffered from a rode bearing failure. They were listed as having "excessive wear". They went ahead and replaced the engine with a new long block. I got it back 3-31. While it's running...

2017 RAM BH, blown engine at 27K miles

Well....it happened to me. I'll begin with stating that I've never been pleased with the performance of my 2017. I have a feeling its because of the EPA tune that came force fed on mine, but the thing has always been a dog and musters a pathetic 19, maybe 20 mpg at best. I have never seen the...

What Do You Love, And What Do You Hate About Your Eco?

Ok...I thought I'd post some real number here... I LOVE the MPGs of my truck. We recently moved and I have a much longer drive to work now. With winter fuel, I'm getting a very steady 20mpg now. I ran mid grade in my '14 Hemi ram and in the winter, got a very solid 12mpg. With what I drive...

What Do You Love, And What Do You Hate About Your Eco?

Likes: -The engine sound...I know it's silly but I like the sound of a diesel engine and the occasional turbo noise -The low end grunt is amazing in poor conditions, the thing handles mud and snow much different from my '14 5.7 did, and that's a good thing. -The MPG, while much less than others...

    Silly diesel cap

Dumb question...but does the system really need one? I chucked that green plastic cap back in Jan of 2018...haven't ran one since.

    EcoDiesel Gauge cluster swap

Also take note that if my memory serves me correctly, the ODO is tied to the cluster...so if you're buying a used cluster, better know what the miles on it states. ...anyone feel free to correct me if I"m wrong.

3.0 Diesel Recalls and Owner Reparations

It's funny...my '17 was built in very late 2017 (Nov to be exact), I bought it new in Jan of 2018. Here's the rub, I have NEVER got the MPG other owners claim to get...often not even close. My absolute best MPG in the summer is a whopping 20, winter is typically around 17-18mpg. My truck is also...

    0 this morning

We were at -22F Wed morning and -17F yesterday morning. I tried starting my truck Wed morning and the thing managed to start (the block heater had been plugged in all night), but that was about it. It sounded like gravel in a cement mixer tub and was stinking like kerosene. About 10 min of idle...

    FCA Settlement and Recall

I'm keeping my eye on this one. I'll be honest here, if I get the $$ they're proposing, I may just trade mine off on a 2018/19. I can't stand the ED engine...I've regretted buying the thing for pushing a year now.

    Ecodiesel

I've said it all along, I'm highly disappointed in my ED Ram. I'm at just under 10,000 miles, I now commute highway driving to work every day, 22 miles. At the moment I cannot even scrape an average of 20mpg (sitting at something like 19.6)...which is pathetic given what others are claiming. I...

    P0299 turbo underboost

So, when you get this code, does the truck go to complete limp mode, or does it just run poorly?

    Any Ecodiesel Owner here?

Bone stock, no mods at all. My truck currently sits outside, on mornings where the windshield has frozen over, I need to defrost it for a short time...typically 10-15min. Example: This morning it was 24F outside, truck wasn't plugged in (moving at the moment, can't do it). "warmed up" for...

    Stealth Module for EcoDiesel

I've seen these guys recommended over, and over, and over again...but there is no way on this earth I'm taking out my CPU, mailing it off to them, paying them a $800, then reinstalling it. NO WAY. I'm also not paying for a space ECM, THEN paying $800...that's insane. If they came out with a...

    Cold weather grill seems antiquated

It's a serious pain in the ass to install as well. My issue was getting those stupid inset rods between the grille and the bumper down on the bottom. I hated messing with that stupid thing so much last year, that I probably won't even mess with it this time around.

Why is there no block heater indicator

You know...I wish it did have some display, but it doesn't. One thing of note, on my display, all it tells me is "<122F" for coolant or engine temp. A few hrs with the heater running, still says the same thing.

    Any Ecodiesel Owner here?

I bought my 2017 ED in Jan of 2018. I'm currently at around 8500 miles, no issues yet. For the life of me, I do not see the MPG others a seeing, not even close. Highway driving at 70-73 mph, I may get 22mpg. I can get that mpg up to around 27 ONLY if I lock the cruise on 65 or just below that...

    2 Weeks Driving a Pentastar V6 Ram

I'd like to drive a 3.6L to see how it compared to my EcoDiesel. I'm not going to get into driving habits/etc...but I'll say this; my '14 5.7L 4x4 with a 3.55 rear and 6spd got a very consistent 12mpg winter, 15mpg summer over the 4 years I had it. I ran mid grade fuel in it so it was not cheap...

    ram 1500 6 cy vs ecodiesel 6?

I'll gladly admit that the turbo lag is the main reason why I will not buy another ED Ram...it's horrible. I've only had the truck since Jan and I can say that right off the top of my head, I can recall a good 10 or so times when the truck has put me in a dangerous situation when it decides to...

    ram 1500 6 cy vs ecodiesel 6?

I completely agree...the ED does feel like an old big block. Low RPM, tons of torque, not a ton of horsepower. Case in point...we have a 2002 Ford F-250 with the 6.8L V10. That truck has 310hp, 425tq. The thing drives surprisingly like my 2017 ED Ram...except that my Ram doesn get sub...

    ram 1500 6 cy vs ecodiesel 6?

I'll try to save you all the long-long part of this...so I'll keep it short. I owned a quad cab '14 5.7 4x4 6spd with a 3.55 rear. Running 275/65r20 Toyo Open Country ATII tires. I managed 12mpg winter, 15mpg summer on the thing. Highway driving I could muster 21 IF I kept it under 70mph, that...

    Rear Seat Water

This was my issue on my 2014. Leaking water from the headliner and in the bottom storage areas under the back seat. I removed the cab brake light, removed the OEM sealing (kind of a pain in the ass) and put on better sealant...never had a problem after that. This is on my "to-do" list for the...

DOES A LEVELING KIT HURT YOUR MPG?

He started off on the level only...then added some much larger wheels/tires and it got even worse. He really doesn't care, but he's more than happy to tell me about it.

DOES A LEVELING KIT HURT YOUR MPG?

I was going to do a leveling kit...but my co-worker did one on his 2015 1500 sport and he got dinged a good 2+ mpg. I know that personally, I lost 2-3 mpg going to larger tires (LT rated 275/65 Toyo Open country AT II).

No lift/level: Will 275/65/20 fit?? Please help

I run 275/65 20 Toyo AT IIs and yes, they fit just fine. One weird thing, on my 2014, turning the wheel all the way to the left would make the drivers side front tire rub on a plastic part just a tiny bit. My 2017? Doesn’t do it. Either way, that works just fine.

2017 Laramie chrome clads and tires

As long as they're in good shape, I don't feel like you're asking too much. As a matter of fact, I'd buy them today if you weren't across the entire country form me (Illinois). Every freaking wheel sale is either far right coast, or left coast, or way down south. Zip within driving distance from...
