Transmission +/- Manual Gear Selector Stopped Working

I will try this but I am thinking there is more to it. I just noticed today that the feature will work sometimes, then it just stops working altogether and defaults back to "D" from the gear you selected.

Transmission +/- Manual Gear Selector Stopped Working

Logged on today to see if I could find a similar report about this issue I am having and I see all these transmission posts .... lol - it was kind of humorous. As the title states, my +/- manual gear selector buttons on my column gear selector stopped working the other day - can anyone share...

    Rotational squeak

Does squeak stop when applying brakes? I had an annoying squeak that eventually got worse that ended up being a bad rear caliber, one piston was sticking causing a squeak and significant heat.

    Cruise Control

My cruise will not work / come on once in a while.....just try again a bit later though and it usually works. Not sure when this started, for the amount I use it, not a huge deal.

1st Ram Truck, so How Do I Know?

Your truck is 2019, so it is a 4th gen in the 2500 model......1500 models are different.

GEAR LUBE LEVEL QUESTION, 2016 CTD 2500

x2.... same here. Just a small drop though, nothing crazy. On this topic, approx how much goes in front and rear diff so you buy enough oil? Might be listed somewhere, I just haven’t looked.

    Dead Starter

Funny enough this truck likely sees the fewest km per year vs any of my past trucks. I hate the start/stop feature on vehicles, if I ever buy one with it, I’ll be researching how to disable for sure.

    Dead Starter

I know, hate being spoiled :) .... god for bid it actually broke on the side of the highway while enroute, pros and cons

    Dead Starter

I agree, seems early to me.... from my experience all the trucks I’ve owned so far have lasted, but they usually have plenty of room around them whereas my other vehicles that weren’t trucks tended to need replacements sooner that were a lot more tightly packed in there! At least it’s an easy...

    Dead Starter

No fretting here, just sharing some info. Like I said, I couldn’t find a lot of info on the www about starters going on these trucks, so figured I’d share. The funny part about when it goes is there is not the usual tell tale sign of starter, or I guess solenoid making much noise. It will...

Truck has around 101,000 km and there were no signs beforehand..... just decided to stop one Sunday morning.

    Dead Starter

Loaded up with travel trailer and all this past Sunday to go camping for a few weeks, park on road outside my house, turn off truck to do a few things and then went to start the truck and nothing....truck won’t start. Went through a bunch of stuff to try and find the issue that ended up being a...

    coolant fluid smell

Same topic has been brought up many times in the HD section with varying reasons.....but I do not recall there ever being an actual issue or leak, just something many have experienced, myself included.

    Mud flaps

I use them, have on all my trucks. Prevents snow build up behind front tires by doors and protects paint behind tires from road rash. Prefer to flexible rubber ones over the rigid ones.

    Hemi 6.4, gasoline. 87 or 89.

I was thinking the same as I read this. The summer heat and added weight being towed during those months would justify the premium fuel, this is what I do, use premium in the summer when towing, when I'm guessing most with the gas engines usually tow heavier. As for feeling the difference, the...

Bilstein shocks all around, 4600 series.

Just installed a set on my truck with around 90k on it. I think the biggest difference was the dampening going over bumps, that is where I noticed the difference, but the shelf life for the stock ones was up anyways.... Did not notice a stiffer ride.

Dealership Says No Lubricating Front Driveshaft

Look at the rear of the joint, you'll see a inner rubber ring with the grease being pushed out, plus you'll see the excess grease sprayed on the underside of the truck from that joint when shaft is rotating.

    Keep or go 2500

If you can afford and/or justify the added cost to run a 2500, you'll never regret your choice over the 1/2 truck(ton) when you tow your toys or load some materials in the bed. A few things you'll do less often are brakes and diff services on a 2500.....I was doing both on a yearly schedule when...

    Trans dipstick tube

I just looked at my 15, tube runs between rear of head and firewall, can't see a bracket from above, but the tube is firm, thankfully.

    Burning smell concern, trans?

X2....hook up a trailer to the truck and tow it. My truck always runs and shifts the best after towing. Otherwise, just beat on it for a bit.....or visit a dealer for flash/updates, then don't drive like a nanny!

How Many Miles on you 6.4 Hemi??????

Around 95,000km on the old girl! Nothing major in terms of issues to report, just brakes and both rear calipers have seized at different times.

    Trans dipstick tube

Not sure where the bracket is on the dipstick, assuming it's near the motor, so 12 inches from the housing where it attaches, in which case I'd carry some extra fluid just in case and keep an eye on the level. Once you replace, change filter and oil as you have no idea what might have went in...

    Trans temp

My 2500 towing a 30 foot TT will usually be in the 80's Celcius, not towing, it's in the 70,s, driving with tow/haul mode on and not towing, the temps are higher by a few degrees. Nothing that's abnormal to me.
