What engine oil do you use in a 5.7 Hemi (non-eTorque)?

I wish they would. Instead, SAE decisions are based on what profits the company the most, not what profits the customer the most. You’re speaking apples and oranges too. There are gear heads and non-gear heads. You’re a non-gear head, trying to argue with a gear head. Just don’t. I’m too...

What engine oil do you use in a 5.7 Hemi (non-eTorque)?

The GURUs are the ones that have spent hours of their day for the past 15 years tearing these 4th and 5th gen HEMI engines down and building them back up. Pushing them to the limits. Testing new fluids, parts, computer parameters, etc…Rebuilding wore out or modifying new engines for people...

What engine oil do you use in a 5.7 Hemi (non-eTorque)?

It might be more of: Ram choosing a bearing that is inadequate/improper for the task. The internal composition of the bearing, Ram uses, doesnt hold up in the conditions it is subjected to. This makes this particular bearing fail in conditions, where more suitable bearings would not fail. Even...

What engine oil do you use in a 5.7 Hemi (non-eTorque)?

Redline 5W30. My 5th Gen has too much on it to have a warranty, anymore. So, I run what the HEMI Ram Gurus recommend.

    Need advice on engine performance

Good quality Long Tubes yield anywhere from 30-40hp gains. Good quality Shorties will yield 5-10hp gains. A catless Y-pipe or H-pipe is worth another 5hp. Any modifications to the cat-back won’t add any power unless you’re putting remote turbos back there.

    VARARAM GARBAGE

I enjoyed that the Vararam hid the nitrous plate on my 4th Gen, very well.

    5.7 Performance Part Questions

Yeah, I’ve read that one. The LTs didn’t improve the bottom end of my powerband like the 6.4 intake manifold though.

    5.7 Performance Part Questions

Definitely set aside some $$ for the 6.4 intake manifold. The headers give you a boost in power up top but nothing down low. The 6.4 IM will boost the power down low, giving you a fluid feeling powerband. HPT is definitely a better tuning platform compared to Diablo. There are way more options...

    New Ram Owner Has Questions

This is my 2nd Ram. I bought a new 2013 Express RCSB before my 5th Gen. It was my dragstrip/weekend truck that I put about 80k miles on during years I had it. Full bolt-on, geared, 100shot, tuned, fun little truck. I can tell you that, unless you're ok with waiting your turn for warranty work...

    3.21 vs 3.92 real world

Yeah, the 3.21 8speed constantly bounced between 7 and 8 when cruising at speed while going up and down hills when I first got mine. I live in KY so there's a lot of hills here. It was very annoying. Luckily, tuning got rid of that issue for me. But yes, the 3.92 set up does not hunt for a gear...

    Exhaust setups

I could have just looked at your signature and seen that you had a 3rd Gen, not a 5th Gen. LOL! Nice looking Ram

    13s yeah!!!

Took her to the track. Right lane was a 20’ Big Horn 3.92, Pulsar tune, S&B intake. Very nice! I’m quite a bit more of course. 1400DA was a 13.9. 800DA, after the sun set, was 13s. FYI, a dyno tune only 2021 PowerBoost ran. 12.8@108mph: Damn they fast!

    Headers

Yes. Both sets. Great results but not fun at all to install. Did it by myself both times. Would not recommend doing the install by yourself unless you have a lift.

    Exhaust setups

Gibson headers for a 5th Gen Ram? I’ve never heard of them making headers available for our platform. Just cat-back…

    Headers

I had them on my 2013 Ram RCSB and currently have a set on my 2021 Ram QC. They’re a lot easier to install on a 2WD Rams vs a 4WD Ram. Great power adders. You’ll stand out quite a bit compared to a Ram with just cat back exhaust or a muffler swap.

    Exhaust setups

A good quality cat back, that removes the resonators, makes a great sound for these trucks. However, headers and aftermarket cat back exhaust really brings the truck to life. A noticeable difference in sound and acceleration

What is the best oil recommended

I've ran Shaeffers 5w30 with 15oz. Lube Gard Bio/Tech for the first two oil changes, every 5k miles. I plan on trying Redline 5w30 with 10oz. of Lube Gard Bio/Tech, at the next oil change. I'm wanting to compare the results of temps and valvetrain sounds. The engine is pretty quiet at them...

    Headers

Congrats. make sure you have a friend come over and help. Or it'll be an annoying process. Read up on all the tutorials too, so you can be aware of the frustrating steps involved with installation.

Reg vs mid vs premium Does it Matter

You'll be good on regular unleaded. Premium unleaded is pretty much for the owners with power increasing tunes on their truck.

2017 Rebel Overland Project - Stage 1 mods

One thing to be aware of is that a full bolt on and tuned truck won’t feel crazy different to a stock one. If you lift and install oversized tires, you only hinder what you gained from bolt-ons. Nitrous, gears, or Forced Induction will be the step up that really puts you in your seat. However...

2017 Rebel Overland Project - Stage 1 mods

Yes. One of the best for tuning. I’ve used Hemifever for tuning on my previous and current Ram. But Jay is just as good as Sean and some say better since he’s R&D’d his own HEMI mods for customers. I’ve always been pleased with Sean. He’s very fast with reply’s. However, Holley screwed me over...
